The 18116 worm wheel used in the grease packed snowblower worm drives and is now available as a Gilson Snowblower Shop part and is considerably more affordable than it had been. The larger snowblower oil bath worm wheel 10398 has been discontinued and I have been offering them as used gears on request. They are now offered directly on the parts page.

February 26, 2017: The parts page was very text based and it was difficult to add parts such that owners could find what they needed. For some time there had been a visual index that let readers browse by picture but it was not tied together well. In this update part names and images came together and existing categorical organization was taken from list to graphic representation. Where replacements look different than the original parts the page shows the original to help spot what you have.
February 20, 2017: The original checkerboard layout of The Gilson Snowblower Shop's home page had outgrown it's original concept. We have found many ways to share the story and organization was desperately needed. With some goading from a daughter studying graphic arts/ website design it was time for a re-spin. The new page attempts to group the back pages around specific themes for easy browsing.
February 18, 2017:
The Friction Wheel Hex Shaft Bearing for the 5 speed friction drive models became available. LawnBoy/Toro discontinued this part about 5 years ago and requests have been frequent. We were able to partner with a major sintered bearing supplier for the blanks and one of our job shop machine shops customized them to match the originals. We followed Gilson's lead, consolidating what were 2 parts in early models to a common part.
December 2016: The axle bearings for the 5 speed friction drive models went on market. LawnBoy discontinued these parts several years ago and requests were frequent enough that we came up with replacements. The originals were sintered iron in construction and were prone to wear and fracture. The replacements are turned from steel rod, zinc plated and lined with the same material used in the UniTrol axle bearings since 2009. There are versions for the 3/4" and 7/8" axle models.
November 30, 2015: The 100th Gilson walk behind snowblower came home with me. It was a 55358 donated by Mike of Somersworth, New Hampshire.
